Texting while bicycling? Apparently it's a problem in Illinois, and one lawmakers want to make illegal. State Rep. Kelly Cassidy, D-Chicago, has filed legislation that would prohibit bicyclists from texting while on the road, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The legislation allows bicyclists to use hands-free devices while biking, and permits texting when the bike is stopped and pulled …

Biking in Laos

When I arrived in Laos , I was delighted to find that bicycles are cheap, easy to rent, and can ride anywhere. Finding a bike was as simple as saying to my guesthouse owner, “Bike?” The man nodded, went into the corridor, and pulled out a rusty model with a basket and chain lock.

As I sat there feeling sorry for myself, I noticed that the bushes lining the trail were wild blackberry bushes overflowing with fresh berries. I plucked one and was instantly transported to a memory of picking blackberries and raspberries in my grandmother's backyard.
